About the role
Imagine having the power to stress-test an entire power grid against a hurricane or thunderstorm before the clouds even gather. That is the reality we are creating at Neara.
We use advanced machine learning to create engineering-grade, physics enabled digital twins of electricity grids across four continents, this helps asset owners understand their biggest challenges and bring the most viable solutions to life across millions of kilometres of infrastructure.
By simulating extreme weather and structural stress at a network-wide scale, we empower the world’s largest utilities to pinpoint risks, optimise investments and build a more resilient global energy future.
Our team is a collection of brilliant minds who are fanatical about making a tangible difference in the real world, utilising AI and machine learning to accelerate everything from data classification to complex scenario analysis. We have built a special culture where innovation thrives because everyone owns the mission and we need smart, creative people to help us scale this impact to every corner of the globe.
We are seeking a versatile and entrepreneurial Commercial Strategy Lead to join our Strategy & Operations team in Australia. In this role, you will initially operate across a variety of high-priority general strategy and operations projects, delivering immediate operational value across the business. Concurrently, you will play a pivotal role in de-risking and positioning Neara to capture rapidly emerging, high-stakes opportunities within the large scale connections vertical.
As these specialised verticals mature, you may transition into the dedicated commercial lead for these offerings. You will own the Go-To-Market (GTM) strategy, driving commercial execution and building the frameworks necessary to scale these high-TAM, high-revenue infrastructure verticals into a steady-state business line by Year 2.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Execute high impact internal consulting projects: Deliver immediate strategic and operational value across a variety of projects across functions during your first year.
- Drive Vertical GTM: Lead the commercialisation and GTM strategy for Neara's large scale connections vertical.
- De-Risk High-Stake Opportunities: Partner with commercial and technical teams to navigate the product and delivery for our first projects in new verticals, ensuring early project success.
- Scale Revenue: Own the commercial growth milestones for these new verticals, positioning the business to secure significant steady-state attributable revenue.
WHAT YOU WILL BRING
Domain Expertise
- Deep experience or specialised knowledge within the data centre infrastructure or green tech sectors.
- Strong familiarity with green energy generation, battery storage, and utility connections frameworks.
Entrepreneurial & Startup Experience
- A proven track record as a founder or early-stage startup leader, with experience navigating ambiguous, zero-to-one environments.
- Demonstrated ability to build, pitch, and launch new products or service offerings from scratch.
Strategy & Execution
- A strong background in strategy, operations, or management consulting, with the analytical rigour to deliver high-quality outputs independently.
- A "dirt-under-fingernails" mindset - equally comfortable executing day-to-day operational tasks as you are defining long-term revenue strategies with executives.
WHAT WE ARE OFFERING YOU
- Competitive salary & meaningful ESOP
- Fully flexible working arrangements with a well-stocked office in Redfern
- Regular office events
- The real benefit is working on a genuinely complex, innovative and industry-leading product, making a genuine difference in the world around us.
